In my spare time I enjoy giving old damaged furniture a makeover.  I love sanding down the wood only to discover what lies beneath the stain that has lasted over the years.  Because most of the pieces I have worked on are dark, I like to brighten them up by mixing stain with a great color.  Hence, furniture makeovers!
